A hard life can lead a man to work harder and cause him to gain more. An easy life can make one soft. Which one is better than the other? I am sure that there are greater underlying questions than these simple observations. To paraphrase the movie, there is more than meets the eye. Take the bible or the sutras. They seem to teach something relating to god, and conflict is what ensues from accepting one or the other. I have often been discombobolated by this situation and I cannot believe that one is superior to the other. Certainly, there are other variables at work than a simple belief in one or the other. One god is fine with me and there are many belief systems that allow for a multiplicity of gods.
